February 28 and 29th | The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University
Shared Tables: A Triangle Symposium on Local and Global Food Studies provided a forum for both local and global experts to explore key issues related to food studies in an inter-disciplinary academic and community gathering.
The first day of the symposium at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill explored key issues related to food and sustainability from a global perspective. Tom Philpott of Mother Jones Magazine addressed the audience as the keynote speaker that evening, speaking on the world's most recalcitrant problem: how to feed the word in a sustainable manner. The second day of the symposium at Duke University focused on sustainable food systems and food cultures both nationally and in our local triangle community.
