"13 Bak’tun: New Maya Perspectives in 2012": Exhibition Viewing and Poetry Readings

As part of the "13 Bak'tun: New Maya Perspectives in 2012" Symposium held from October 25 - 26, 2012, Curator George E. Stuart spoke about the exhibition "Ancient and Living Maya Through the Photographic Lens" which contains photographs of Maya peoples and places, taken for National Geographic from the 1950s onward. Afterwards contemporary Mayan poets Briceida Cuevas Cob and Rosa Chávez read their work in Yucatec and K’iche’ languages, respectively, as well as in Spanish, with English translations provided by members of the UNC community.
